“The Cookbook Kitchen Club” at TOFS Development kitchen from Julie Friend, MasterChef winner
Julie’s second supper club will be based upon Madhur Jaffrey’s Ultimate Curry Bible.
An Indian born actress and food & travel writer, Madhur was one of the first people to bring the food of her country to the western hemisphere with her debut book ‘An Invitation to Indian Cooking’ published in 1973. She has subsequently written many more books and appeared on British TV on numerous occasions with a few of her own series.
Julie had the pleasure of meeting Madhur (who is now 86 years old) at the Guild of Food Writers Awards this Summer, where Madhur was presented with a lifetime achievement honour. She most humbly turned the award speech right round and thanked the audience “If you had not cooked my food and enjoyed my books, none of this would have been possible”.
“Madhur made Indian food accessible to home cooks and meant that domestic mealtimes could be enhanced with exotic flavours and spicing” says Julie.
Come and enjoy an Indian feast cooked by a western chef on Wednesday October 30th in TOFS development kitchen.
Three courses and canapés for £35 per person. 7.30pm start time.
