Event description

After yet another successful day in 2019, entries are now open for 2020’s race.  Entries are limited to 200 for the main race, so reserve your spot soon.

The virtual race will also take place during the week of May 4th.

This race will take place in the beautiful Shropshire Hills – this time just outside the town of Cravern Arms.  Each of the laps are 13.1 miles and Set under the back drop of the Clee Hills, the route will leave the Sun Brewery in the sleepy village of Corfton, and climb upwards via grassy tracks and open farmland to Pinstones before dropping down through ancient woodland towards Westhope.  Competitors will then pick up a single track lane and and old bridle way that crosses a ford before climbing up onto Wenlock Edge. Wenlock Edge is an 18 mile stretch of ancient woodland that was once a coral reef and will be carpeted with bluebells and wild garlic in parts.  The course takes in a section of the Edge before dropping up and down to Flounder’s Folly (aka the now infamous Bump) and joining more bridle ways and farmland to bring competitors to the final descent of the brewery.

Full Marathon runners will get to enjoy the scenery once again on there second lap as they push for the final hurdle.

The race will start at 10am, and there will be a cut off of 7 hours for the full marathon.

If you cant make it to Shropshire to join us on race day, we will also be holding a virtual race during the week (2nd – 6th May). Enter the virtual race, and post us your Garmin / Strava link and we will complile the results from across the globe and then send your bling out to you.

* For those of you running both days there will be free camping next to the pub on the Saturday and Sunday evenings.

** There will be new bling for 2020

*** Please note unlike previous years please remember we are not in Carding Mill Valley – There will be a £2 for parking which will be donated to the local school and Shropshire Air Ambulance.

We have been involved in event management for over 13 years working on all race distances from 5K’s right up to Ultra Marathons. We are actively involved in the course build of numerous OCR’s that take place in the UK. When we launched How Hard Can it be Events, we wanted to make running events fun and put on events that we would want to take part in ourselves. That is why we have worked hard to host smaller, friendlier events, where people can relax and get to know people and enjoy the whole running experience. We think this philosophy is what makes us stand out from the crowd.
