Originally from Los Angeles, Mike Katz is a superb bagpiper and multi-instrumentalist who has lived in Scotland ever since attending Edinburgh University at age 18. Mike played in various bands and combinations, including Scottish Gas Pipe Band, and Ceolbeg, before joining Battlefield Band. In recent years he has played as a guest with the great Breton institution, Bagad Kemper, with Cirque du Soleil co-founder Guy Laliberté’s EDM project, The Frog Collective, and currently with Old Blind Dogs. His playing and interpretation of pipe music continues to be greatly influential in the Scottish tradition at large.
Alasdair White is widely regarded as one of the leading exponents of Scottish fiddle music touring, teaching and performing today on both sides of the Atlantic. His deep rooted yet wide-ranging musicality reflects his Isle of Lewis birthplace, current New York City home, and 20 years globe-trotting with some of the best known names in Scottish, Irish, and Breton music
Sean O'Donnell is a highly accomplished guitarist and singer. He was born and brought up in Derry, Ireland and soon after moving to Scotland in 1996 became a mainstay of the Scottish music scene. Sean joined Battlefield Band in 2005 and was a keystone of the group's sound thereafter: his soulful vocals and driving rhythmic guitar adding so much to the mix. “O'Donnell is a revelation; from his heartfelt & moving vocals when taking the lead, and his subtly complimentary harmonies when supporting a song, he is a truly expressive singer…” He now resides back home in Derry.
“Few bands have received enthusiastic receptions
in places as far apart as Anchorage and Beijing, or have required a police
escort through the mountains of Uzbekistan.”
