This is your chance to experience original material from the band, delivered with the energy and enthusiasm only a live show can bring.
The Mind Sweepers are an original band from S/W Scotland. They were formed in 2014 and have played festivals, pubs, and charity nights ranging from the Eden Festival to Gatehouse Music Festival, the Salutation in Manchester and to Stereo in Glasgow. The band consist of Paul Winter (vocals/rhythm guitar/lyrics), John McInally (lead guitar), Mark Jardine (bass), and Bryn Thorburn (drums/percussion). All of their set is original material, and they don't do covers. End-of. Their songs are hard to pigeon-hole, with regard to genre, and it could be said that The Mind Sweepers defy such artistic classification.
Support from Big Lanes. Big Lanes is a Post-Punk, Psych Rock band from Edinburgh, Scotland. Brought together by the pandemic in 2021 when there was nothing else to do, they began writing and recording new music with influences from Yo La Tengo, Galaxie 500 and the Jesus and Mary Chain.
They played their first gig at the Wee Red Bar in the Edinburgh College of Art in November 2022 with their second gig supporting Mr Ben and the Bens at Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh. The last year has seen them playing gigs promoted by the Onion Cellar, supporting the Television Personalities for a Dan Treacy benefit show, support slots at Sneaky Pete’s, and a high-profile slot at the Haddington, Haddstock Festival.
Their latest single “Back to Earth” was released on November 24 on 5” lathe-cut vinyl and digital platforms, and has received airplay from Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio and the Scot’s Whay Hae Radio Show. The 5” format is limited to two minutes per side, so the tracks on the single had to be specially recorded to fit the vinyl.Big Lanes is: Robin Fowler - Bass. Malcolm Irving - Vocal, Guitar. Gordon Kilgour - Drums, Tambourine. Keith McRae - Guitar, Keyboard. They came from the North-East and the South-West to settle in the capital city, where blossoms the colour of mortality settled softly on their souls. Glistening softly in the morning sun, turn to the sky and open your heart to Big Lanes.
